Canada flawless in qualifying games – Unihockey.ch

Canada’s senior women’s national team has secured the Americas region’s ticket for the next World Games in Chengdu (7 to 17 August 2025). This after the men had already qualified in February with two wins against the USA. The Canadians clearly managed to get revenge against the USA after the US team had recently qualified for the World Cup in Singapore. In the best-of-3 tournament, Canada won clearly with 12:2, 13:2 and 8:0, with the US team having to compete with a severely depleted squad. This means that seven of the eight places at the World Games have been taken for the women (Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovakia, Canada and host China) – the last ticket will be played for at the qualifying tournament for the Asia/Oceania region in early 2025.

The U19 juniors were also convincing, qualifying for the World Cup from April 29 to May 4, 2025 in Zurich with two wins against the USA at the same qualifying event. Canada took an early 4-0 lead in the first game and won 13-6. In the second game, the Canadians made the difference in the middle third, pulling ahead to 7-4 and ultimately winning 11-7. The third game would therefore no longer have been necessary for World Cup qualification, but the two teams used it as a test match. Canada also won this game, which ended with a high score of 15-10.
