Real Madrid vs. Chelsea (2-1): match summary
Real Madrid closed their pre-season tour in the United States with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in an entertaining friendly at Bank of America Stadium.
Lucas Vázquez, in the 19th minute, with a left-footed shot that was deflected by the defence and Brahim Díaz, in the 27th, after dribbling the goalkeeper, were the authors of the goals for the Merengue that led 2-0 in the first half. Before the break, Noni Madueke, with an assist from Enzo Fernández, scored for the English.
The second half was not very exciting, with many changes and players showing signs of fatigue from the pre-season in North America. This was the last match for Carlo Ancelotti’s team before facing Atalanta in the European Super Cup final next Wednesday. For the Spanish team, Kylian Mbappé, the star signing of this summer’s European transfer market, has not yet had any minutes.
Chelsea’s next game will be on Sunday against Inter of Italy, thus closing their tour on American soil. On August 18, they will make their Premier League debut against none other than Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who will no longer have Julián Álvarez.
