Municipal Health Teams of Curicó forward in school vaccination coverage – Municipality of Curicó

The inoculation will be available for students in 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th grade. There is advance coordination for the day and schedule of each school in the command.

As every year, the school vaccination takes place in the month of August and Curicó Municipal Health teams visit each of the centers in the association, to comply with this process.

From the Curicó Health Department, the Nurse, Pía Rojas, Community Manager of the Immunization Program (PNI), mentioned this campaign and said “it is a vaccination that is done every year, in the different schools in our community it happens from the first of August to the last week of August.”

The doses will be given to students from 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th grades in educational institutions throughout the community. Regarding the types of vaccinations that are given to each grade or level in this campaign, Pía Rojas explained that “we give DTPa to children in grade 1 on cell phones, which protects against tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough. In the 4th and 5th grade, we give the vaccine against the Human Papilloma virus.”

In that same context, Pía Rojas gave details about new features for this year’s campaign and said “for 4th grade children, we have a new feature. In previous years we used the four-strain Papillomavirus vaccine and protected against four types of this virus. This year the non-modern vaccine has been introduced, which means that 4th graders this year will be protected against nine strains of the Human Papilloma virus, so it’s a big plus this year, so that parents can be informed that the protection is extensive”.

“In the 8th grade, we send cellular DTPa, which, like children in grade 1, is protected against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough,” explained the PNI Community Manager.

Regarding coordination with educational institutions, Pía Rojas explained “This has already been told to the schools, it has prior coordination.” and communication has been sent to the peers about which day each center will be visited, so don’t worry because you will be contacted in advance (…) if you could not go to school at any time, you can ask at the school. CESFAM in our community.”
