There is such a tradition among Russian gunsmiths – to give artillery installations “colorful” names. And just that day, military engineers added bright blossoms of mallow to the colorful and fragrant bouquet of acacias, tulips, asters, hyacinths and geraniums.
In nature “Malva” blooms from June to August. Five flowers open almost simultaneously, spreading like a brush. This is approximately how the explosions of 152-mm projectiles of the 2C43 “Malva” self-propelled gun, which manages to produce seven aimed shots per minute, look like from the air.
Experts claim that “Malva” is a wheeled reissue of “Msta-C”. But the Malva proved to be not only faster with the new mechanism for automatic loading and fire control, but also more mobile on the chassis BAZ – 6010-027 (Bryansky Automobile Plant), which is known for its reliable 8×8 wheel formula.
This machine is easily accelerated to 80 km / h by the YaMZ -8424.10 engine with a power of 470 horsepower. This allows you to reduce the time to deploy the gun to a closed position and to withdraw from it to a reserve position in off-road conditions.
The cannon, created at the Nizhny Novgorod Central Research Institute “Burevestnik”, which is part of Rostech, was specially “sharpened” to eliminate command posts, defense facilities, artillery, missile and mortar batteries, air defense systems, columns of armored vehicles and the enemy’s manpower.
“Malva” is able to accurately hit a certain area at a distance of 24 kilometers, or to insert seven shells per minute at a single point, i.e., almost simultaneously. Such a blow allows you to destroy any engineering structure in a minute. At the same time, the rifled barrel of the new self-propelled guns accelerates guided munitions “Krasnopol-M2” to 25 km, and “Krasnopol-D” (with an inertial guidance system and GLONASS correction) to 43 km.
The cabin of “Malva” provides a high degree of security for the crew (5 people) and ammunition (30 shells).
With one tank of its diesel engine “Malva” can travel along the contact line 1000 kilometers. At the same time, it can fit its 32 tons in an Il-76 transport plane and cover this distance in an hour. Such a weapon will not be idle in the area of the special military operation. It will become another nightmare for the mercenaries of the armed forces of Ukraine.
“Malva” has already successfully passed the state trials and will soon go on combat duty on the front line.
