He had gone to the attic to get some objects but a sudden illness struck him down. His body remained there for five days, until a tenant of the building, sensing a bad smell in the stairs, alerted the Police. He died like that, in complete solitude as Maurizio Braglia, 53 years old from Mantua, had lived.
In the apartment of the condominium located in via Cavriani, in the center of the city, he lived alone and there were few people with whom he had contact; among them his brother. In the past Maurizio had been a disc jockey, but then he had stopped because of a serious illness. The health problems had then continued and lately he was very debilitated.
He had been missing for a few days, no one had seen him since Tuesday of last week. His body was found five days later, but only yesterday was he identified after the autopsy. The time spent in the attic, in a sultry heat, had made him unrecognizable, so much so that at first it was thought he was a homeless person who had found refuge in the building or, even, a thief.
The mystery was solved when investigators found the attic key in the lock; in his apartment, where the police entered with the same keys, they found his cell phone on the table: he had evidently gone up to the attic to get something but did not have time: the heat, the high humidity and his precarious health conditions were fatal. His death dates back to the same day he had not given any news of himself.
