To be clear at the beginning. Current MG ZS with both an internal combustion engine and an electric engine, it is already nearing the end of its life cycle, however, it will be replaced by a new generation (probably revealed as early as this month), but only internal combustion.
However, this does not mean that the MG ZS EV will end without another one. There is no place. Pictures of the upcoming fan, which stands on a platform shared with the MG4, have leaked on the internet. If you take a closer look at the model, sure MG4 design elements you will see in the upcoming news.
For example, these are the headlights located just under the hood, and at the back we recognize the usual Y-shaped extension connected to the tail lamps. There are also roof racks or decorative covers on the edges of the fenders, giving the car a more SUV look.
The mysterious electric car, for now without an official name (the S5 EV is written on the back), is expected to appear at the beginning of next year, but camouflaged prototypes are already driving at least in Britain. Plus, thanks to information (and photos) from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, we know even more.
The new electric SUV from MG is expected to be 4,476 mm long, 1,849 mm wide and 1,621 mm tall. With a wheelbase stretched to 2,730 mm, it will be a lower and wider SUV than the previous electric ZS.
Technically, the vehicle could copy the drive package of the MG4, which would mean installing electric motors with outputs of 170, 204 or 245 horsepower and connecting them to collectors with capacities of 51, 64 or 77 kWh. If he were to rise sharp version of XPowerwe would be talking about a 435-horsepower four-wheeler with a 64 kWh battery.
Depending on the version, the range could be around 300 to 500 km per charge. DC charging power is expected to reach up to 144 kW.
Of course, the price is still unknown, but the aim of the automaker is to get the new electric SUV below the price of the Kia EV3, Volvo EX30, and thus the Kony from Hyundai, i.e. below around CZK 870,000 . And with the punitive duties imposed on electric cars imported from China, it may not be easy.
Anyway, in the Czech Republic, the internal combustion MG ZS is still the most popular, and in the autumn it will be supplemented by the recently published release. new generation MG HS. However, the Morris Garages car company is not abandoning electric cars, on the contrary, it plans to introduce even larger SUVs worthy of the C segment on the MG4 platform, where the Škoda Enyaq, Renault Scenic and, for example, the Kia. EV5 and others are planned.
