In the autoimmune disease Graves’ disease, the immune system turns against the body. It can occur even in childhood. The “Star Wars” heroine was also diagnosed with the disease.
Berlin – “Star Wars” heroine Daisy Ridley says she has the autoimmune disease Graves’ disease. “It’s the first time I’ve spoken about it,” said the 32-year-old in an interview with the fitness magazine “Women’s Health.” The British actress was diagnosed with the disease last September. Ridley played the Jedi student Rey in the most recent “Star Wars” trilogy.
According to the report, Ridley was not feeling well after filming the thriller “Magpie”: “I thought I had just played a really stressful role; that’s probably why I feel so bad,” said the actress. She reportedly felt hot flashes and tiredness.
Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disease. According to the Professional Association of Pediatricians (BVKJ), the immune system turns against the body. In the case of Graves’ disease, it produces antibodies that affect the functioning of the thyroid gland. It then secretes too many hormones – and hyperfunction occurs.
