Jaimy Vanenburg from Eindhoven, the daughter of former PSV footballer Gerald Vanenburg, passed away on Monday at the age of 32. She overcame cancer this year and suffered from a lung disease her entire life. She was free of cancer, but her health remained weak. She had been in hospital in Groningen for a few weeks, where she passed away on Monday.
Her family announced in a message on Instagram that they had to say goodbye to Jaimy. On Instagram, she shared the developments of her life for her 115,000 followers for years. In May 2023, she underwent a double lung transplant, a few months later she suffered a cardiac arrest.
Three days ago, Jaimy’s family announced that her health was deteriorating. Two weeks ago, she announced via Instagram that she was in the University Medical Center in Groningen to recover, because her kidney function had deteriorated.
On Tuesday, her family shared the news of her passing: ‘With pain in our hearts we had to say goodbye to Jaim yesterday. As you all know, Jaim fought like a lion. She wanted to so much, but her body couldn’t do it anymore. We hoped for a miracle the past few days, but we now realize that our miracle was there all along. We are deeply saddened but also incredibly grateful for all the time we were able to spend with Jaim.’
Last weekend her partner Joep shared that she was being kept asleep and on a ventilator in intensive care. Jaimy leaves behind a two-year-old son.
