Number of fighter jets Israel breaking the sound barrier, setting off a series of loud sounds in the sky of Beirut, the capital Lebanon. The loud noise triggered panic with Beirut residents running for cover.
As reported Reuters and Al ArabiyaOn Wednesday (7/8/2024), several witnesses reported hearing at least three loud noises in the sky in less than 30 minutes Beirut on Tuesday (6/8) local time.
The event took place before a speech was delivered by the leader of the group Hizbullahwhich has its headquarters in Lebanon.

When the incident occurred, it was reported that several Israeli fighter jets were flying low in Beirut’s airspace.
Several witnesses said they could see Israeli fighter jets in the sky with the naked eye. The loud noise heard on Tuesday (6/8) local time was said to be the loudest ever heard in Beirut in recent years.
One Reuters reporter said he saw people in a cafe in the Badaro district of Beirut, scattering outside and running as a loud bang echoed through the air.
There has been no official statement from the Israeli military regarding the operation of its fighter jets in the Lebanese territory.
