Papilloma Party, a project dedicated to awareness and elimination of the HPV virus. An online platform was created – Tion

The HPV infection (Human Papilloma Virus) is a viral infection that causes damage to the skin or mucous membranes in different parts of the human body. More than 100 forms of the HPV virus have been identified so far, and infection with at least one type of HPV is very common.

HPV infection is involved in 99% of breast cancer cases, in the development of genital warts and other types of cancer in the ano-genital region. Romania ranks first in Europe in the number of HPV victims, with 8.45 million women at risk of cervical cancer.

The Papiloma Party project was started by director and writer Alina Pietrăreanu. At the end of October, with the help of an interdisciplinary team of artists, an exhibition will be held in the /SAC Malmaison space in Bucharest. The exhibition will feature real stories of people with HPV presented through 3D art and performance art with body mapping technologies with motion sensors.

The Papiloma Party team, involved in making the show, consists of Alina Pietrăreanu – director and playwright, Cabiria Morgenstern – creative producer, Oana Rotaru, Bianca Marinescu and Anastasia Nane – actors, Andreea Novac – choreographer, Sofia Zadar – creator of the world sound and music, datejuice – 3D artist and Ciprian Făcăeru – new media designer.

In addition to the exhibition, the project has workshops in high schools, public debates and an online platform for communication and information. The platform consists of Facebook group “HPV Community” and was launched in early August.

“Because we know how important it is, when you find out you have HPV, to find safe information, but also a community that supports you and doesn’t judge you, we decided on this virtual meeting place to create where you can find the latest information. information about the virus and the vaccine, stories of other people who have been through it, art suggestions with the same theme, but last but not least, a safe conversation framework with others. If everything goes well, we are also thinking about possible physical meetings with the community”, said Alina Pietrăreanu, the initiator of the project.

The Papiloma Party is a Shangri-la Art Land project, co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration – AFCN.
