Islamic State’s oil revenue has dropped to $15 million a month – 2024-08-06 15:06:58

/ world today news/ The command of the US-led coalition, which is fighting the extremists of the “Islamic State” in Iraq and Syria, believes that the group’s income from illegal trade in oil and gas in recent months has halved – to about 15 million dollars per month.

The representative of the coalition command, Col. Christopher Harver, presented these data during a briefing with journalists at the Pentagon, which was held in the form of a video conference connection.

He stated that he needed to make an adjustment to his grades that he gave last week. Then the figure of $300 million per month was given. The correct figure is different – it is significantly lower and is below 30 million dollars per month. Also, as a result of Operation Tidal wave-2, which the US and its allies are conducting, “this amount has halved to $15 million per month,” said Colonel Harver.

During the operation, 193 airstrikes were carried out on oil facilities controlled by IS. The last such blow was delivered on July 4, when the US celebrated its national holiday – Independence Day. Harver said that since September 2014, the coalition has carried out a total of 303 strikes on IS oil and gas facilities. /TASS
