Yohanes Ande Kala or Joni, a young man from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), who went viral for his brave act of climbing the flagpole during the commemoration ceremony for the 73rd anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, has entered Indonesian Army. Kodam IX/Udayana gave an explanation.
“Joni was given the opportunity to continue with a series of tests that took place in Kupang Village, Korem 161/WS district,” Kodam IX/Udayana Intelligence Chief Colonel Inf Agung Udayana said in his statement. detikBaliTuesday (6/8/2024).
Agung said that the selection process from Kodam IX/Udayana had started today. Registration for TNI members requires a minimum height of 163 centimeters (cm). However, undeveloped areas such as NTT have special requirements for a minimum height of 160 cm.

CHECK TO CONTINUE WITH INDEX
“The person involved is only 155.8 cm tall. However, this is still at the administrative level,” said Agung.
In addition to height, there is a series of tests that all prospective soldiers, including Joni, must pass. The tests include health, postal, physical, academic and psychological tests.
Certificates of appreciation from the TNI Commander and the Minister of Education and Culture for their bravery at the 73rd Indonesian Independence Day commemoration will also be considered. Then, the results of a series of tests will be reported to the TNI AD Headquarters (Mabesad).
“Therefore, if there are points that may be relevant as special benefits that may cover these deficiencies, we will report them to the Head Office,” he explained.
