JAKARTA – Ican Pane aka Turdikidz has released a new extended play (EP) under the title “Transition”. The mini-album contains five tracks generated through the collaboration with the major record label.
The real “Perfection” was released first as a single, becoming the band’s first EP. This song tells the story of the feeling that makes someone be themselves again.
“Imagination” inspired by the imagination of making love of a celebrity who is admired for being the second track. Then there is “Jovial” which became the right track for the EP, containing an encouraging message to keep rising.
Furthermore, “Ambition” which tells of the desire to continue loving one’s loved ones becomes the fourth track, and “Required” which expresses the calmness when being with a lover until he feels like going home, becomes a good track.
“Transition is quite a personal work. I think it’s a better phase in my life and also my career in music. The life experience that I went through over the course of a year is poured into this EP,” Ican Pane said in his statement on Monday, August 5.
The mini-album “Transition” is inspired by the music of the 1990s and 2000s, which was dominated by moderate songs. This time, Turokidz focused more on drum-driven rhythms and bass, which are then packed with synthesizers, trumpets and custom vocals.
“This EP depicts a process of change to be something better, including in work. The transition is about discovery and acceptance. To find a truly new love and accept yourself, despite the bitter slanders of the past,” Ican continued.
In the process of working on the new EP, Ican was assisted by several colleagues, such as Iqbal Firdaus Putra from Texpack who fills the drums on the songs “Perfection”, “Imagination”, “Jovial” and “Ambition; Aul Daytona from Pijar who fills the drums on the song “Required”; Dovi Martindas who also fills the trumpets on the songs “Imagination” and “Jovial”; and Ivan Wirawan from Happiest Local to fill the bass.
The recording sessions were done in various locations, such as Emic/etic Studio, Bens and Co Studio and Great Wave Studio. While the mixing and mastering process is done independently by Ican Pane, except for the song “Perfection” assisted by Radhi Nurhani.
