Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro led the commemorative activities on Sunday for the 87th anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), on which occasion he congratulated it for its confrontation with the recent coup attempt and in which he assured that fascism will not seize power in the South American nation.
From the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, in his capacity as commander in chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), the head of state said:
“We are facing a cyber-fascist and criminal coup d’état” from the United States, Maduro said at the start of the central event, held this Sunday in the premises of the Ministry of Defense.
“An imperialist coup d’état, with fascist characteristics, filled with hatred against institutions,” concluded the president, who praised the “exemplary conduct” displayed by the GNB when it took to the streets “to defend this people and their right to peace.”
Maduro explained that he called the alleged coup “cyber-fascist” “because we are receiving the cyber attack through all social networks to fill Venezuela with hatred and divide it.”
And as for the fascist label, “because it is its main characteristic: hatred, violence, irrationality; and criminal because it has had a significant group of criminals trained abroad, paid and bought here to attack hospitals, schools, universities, protection modules.”
He recalled that Commander Hugo Chávez gave that armed institution a constitutional and Bolivarian character, placing it at the service of the country, of dignity and national conscience, of the right to independence and sovereignty, peace and security.
He described this force as professional, humane and powerful. You are the backbone of peace, the protection of the people, security and the constitutional right of the people to life, he emphasized.
