This Monday, the The Liberators Pass will close again after having opened this Sunday the 4th. The closure is due to bad weather forecast which will affect the central and southern areas of the country.
The Presidential Delegation of Los Andes reported that the decision to close the pass was taken in coordination with Chilean and Argentine authorities. In Chile, the closure will begin at 8:00 a.m., while in Argentina it will be implemented from 9:00 a.m.
The measure will apply to all vehicles due to the low temperatures, snow and winds which could exceed 50 km/h, making traffic on Route 60-CH unsafe.
The crossing had been reopened earlier today, but will be closed again at the beginning of the week. Authorities recommend that travelers check official channels for updated information on the status of border crossings. This information is available on the Border Crossing Unit’s X account.
