José A. Jiménez, Councillor for Tourism and Promotion, has travelled to the San Francisco Auditorium, where last week work began on improving the accessibility of the space, as well as replacing the stalls.

The works to improve the accessibility of the San Francisco Auditorium are included in the Sustainable Tourism Plans for Baeza, within the Territorial Plan for Sustainable Tourism in Destinations of Andalusia, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Jiménez Molina stressed that this intervention is essential to continue conditioning spaces that help position Baeza as a city of congresses, as is the case of the San Francisco Auditorium, which in recent months has hosted a significant number of congresses and events.

This action amounts to €86,928.53 and is fully financed by the “Next Generation-EU” Instrument with funds from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Mechanism within Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The aforementioned works to improve the accessibility of the building as a whole consist of adapting the main entrance, locating reserved spaces for wheelchair users and removing architectural barriers to make the route to them accessible.

Regarding the adaptation of the main entrance, the pavement next to the main entrance will be renovated to provide direct and accessible access to the building and the existing flooring in the entrance hall, made of natural stone steps and wooden flooring, will be dismantled.

In addition, the actions planned for these works will include replacing the horizontal acoustic awnings placed over the stands and the stage area.

Once the works to improve the accessibility of this beautiful space have been completed, the installation of the new auditorium seats will begin. This investment, after being put out to tender, amounts to €131,333.40, which is covered by the aid that the city receives as a Tourist Municipality of Andalusia.

The execution period for all interventions is approximately three months.
