Rayos del Necaxa achieved the feat, they were able to advance to the next stage of the Leagues Cup by coming from behind and beating Seattle Sounders; the Mexican team won 3-1 after a comeback, being one of the few teams to put the name of Liga MX on high.
The Hidrocálidos are now in the round of 32 of the 2024 Leagues Cup, after their victory this Sunday night at Lumen Field.
Great start for Seattle
Seattle scored in the 8th minute, in a play on the right wing, where Cristian Roldán passed to Obed Vargas, who finished with first intention in front of goalkeeper Ezequiel Unsain, for 1-0.
And at 11′ they came close to extending their lead, as Pedro de la Vega scored the second with a low shot; unfortunately for them, the VAR considered that there had been an offside before and did not count the goal.
Necaxa was very effective
Necaxa took advantage of three of their five clear chances, and in the 24th minute, José Paradela passed to Agustín Palavecino, who shot a well-angled cross to make it 1-1, but goalkeeper Andy Thomas was unable to get past him.
The somersault
In the 44th minute, Paradela passed the ball into space for Cambindo to run at top speed, heading towards goal, and score for 2-1.
The second half was calmer, as both teams had already qualified for the next stage; however, Kevin Duván Ante Rosero scored the final 3-1 in stoppage time at 92′, putting Necaxa ahead as group leader.
