Lose The New York Yankees got a new streak in their favor this Sunday by defeating their division rivals Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 thanks to an effective hit by first baseman DJ LeMahieu in the tenth inning that left their rivals on the Yankee Stadium field.
In a game that was interrupted for more than an hour due to a thunderstorm that hit the surrounding area, it was restarted in the 8th inning after the Blue Jays tied and went into extra innings where the the game finally finished.
In the 10th inning and with the man on second with the rule (Anthony Volpe), Trent Grisham appeared at the plate with the task of moving the runner to third and making the win possible, and ultimately he accomplished with a bunt that he even had close contact with the center fielder.
That’s the time LeMahieu took his turn at bat and after a missed pitch hit the hard part of the plate across second base to drive in Volpe and his second run of the game, despite the unusual defense provided by the Blue Jays with an outfielder playing in the infield to avoid the loss.
The victory was credited to Mark Leiter Jr., who worked 1.1 innings with three strikeouts, while Juan Soto supported the work of the Mules with a home run for victory number 67 of the season.
