Ombudsman Maya Manolova convenes a forum to protect the rights of children left without parents – 2024-08-04 20:08:36

/ world today news/ Ombudsman Maya Manolova organized a public discussion under the title “Socio-economic protection of children with one or two deceased parents”. The event will take place on February 19, 2018, Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ombudsman’s office – 22 George Washington Street.

The reason for initiating the forum is the campaign to protect the rights of orphaned children, which Ombudsman Maya Manolova launched at the end of last year. The idea arose after the angry letter of the single mother with three children, Zlatina Hadjipanayotova, who sought assistance from Manolova to provide permanent personal assistance for children left with one parent.

Even then, the ombudsman announced that he would organize a national round table to which all responsible institutions would be invited. Manolova is committed to making a proposal to the Council of Ministers for regulatory changes to guarantee the rights of children left without one or two parents. She will insist on changes to the texts related to the conditions for receiving an inheritance pension from children with a deceased parent, as well as an amendment to the regulation on school grants.

Specific cases limiting children’s access to a scholarship, inheritance or personal pension will be presented at the forum.

So far, more than 3,000 people have supported the cause of the ombudsman Maya Manolova to protect the rights of children left with one parent.
