We expect two planes to arrive tomorrow from Spain, which will support our actions to deal with the fire element. This was announced by the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Kalin Stoyanov, in a post on his Facebook profile.
The readiness of Spain to once again join the fight against fire in our country is under the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union.
Canadair planes will be directed to the hotspots at their discretion and will be involved in extinguishing as soon as possible, the minister said.
“I express my immense gratitude to all those who continue to be on the ground, as well as to the member states of the European Union for the quick reaction and solidarity they show to us,” writes Kalin Stoyanov.
BTA reminds that this is another aid that our country receives from Spain under the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. Since the middle of July, Bulgaria has been fighting forest fires in various places in the country. Aircraft from Spain and the Czech Republic were involved in their control.
France also sent one reconnaissance and two fire-fighting aircraft to control the large forest fire on the Bulgarian-Greek border. From July 29, French aircraft began field operations.
Two Swedish planes also took part in extinguishing fires in the Blagoevgrad region.
The EU Civil Protection Mechanism coordinates the response to natural and man-made disasters at EU level. Any country in the world can request assistance through the Mechanism when an emergency situation exceeds its capacity to respond.
