In the match of the 3rd round of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, GKS Katowice faced Raków Częstochowa at Bukowa. There were several changes in the starting line-up compared to the previous match. Borja Galán returned to the eleven, while Mateusz Kowalczyk played for the first time since the beginning of the match. The Katowice team started with great energy. In the 6th minute, Aleksander Komor shot from a set piece, but Kacper Trelowski reacted alertly in goal. The first part definitely belonged to the hosts. In the 18th minute, Adrian Błąd shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball did not go into the goal. A moment later, Adam Zrel’ák was in a good position, but in action one-on-one with a defender, he decided to slow down the action and made a bad pass to Grzegorz Rogala.
In the 24th minute, Borja Galán rushed into the penalty area, but lost the duel with the defender. The Spaniard demanded a penalty, but the referee did not see anything and ordered the game to continue. Unfortunately, in the 29th minute, Fran Tudor sent a good ball into the penalty area. The onrushing Jean Carlos surprised Adrian Błąd and headed it so that Dawid Kudła was unable to reach the ball, and the guests took the lead. Galán had a chance before the break, fighting for the ball deflected by Trelowski. However, in all the confusion, he committed a foul. In the 41st minute, Alek Komor headed a Galán cross. Trelowski managed to redirect his shot over the crossbar. We returned to the second half with a one-goal lead for the guests.
In the 49th minute, Adrian Błąd got to the ball after Raków played the ball badly. However, his shot flew centimetres past Raków’s goalpost. In the 57th minute, Lukas Klemenz headed in a cross from Błąd, but his shot was deflected by Kacper Trelowski. GKS put a lot of pressure on Częstochowa’s goal, looking for an equaliser. The fans gathered at Bukowa reacted lively to the next actions and often expressed their disapproval of the referee’s decisions. In the 87th minute, Erick Otieno went one-on-one with Kudła, but fortunately for GKS, he missed the target. The result did not change.
