Lightning strikes Alba Adriatica beach, three women injured, two in serious condition

Three women were injured by lightning on the beach of Alba Adriatica. Two are in serious condition. The others present are in shock. The incident occurred around midday on the southern coast of Alba, on the free beach between the concessions Piccolo Chalet and Caraibi. The beach was still crowded: “The sky was cloudy and it had drizzled for a few minutes, but there were still a lot of people. You heard the roar and then panic broke out, an apocalyptic scene,” witnesses said. Three injured remained on the ground. The most seriously injured is a 41-year-old from Alba Adriatica, who suffered cardiac arrest and was resuscitated on the spot with a defibrillator.

She was then picked up by the 118 helicopter directly on the beach and transported to the Mazzini hospital in Teramo, now she is in intensive care. A 64-year-old Belgian tourist is also in serious condition and hospitalized in Teramo, first affected by a temporary loss of sensitivity in the lower part of her body (paresthesia), then her condition worsened, also suffering from a heart attack during the rescue. Paresthesia in one leg for the third injury, a 44-year-old woman from the area, transported by ambulance to the Giulianova emergency room. The men of the coast guard and the Volante mare of the State police intervened on site
