In an age of ever-present digital distractions, Apple Intelligence offers an innovative solution to help you focus. With its new “Reduce Interruptions” mode, users can manage their notifications more intelligently. The details of this advancement and how it works deserve special attention.
Reduce interruptions, Apple Intelligence’s new intelligent focus mode
Apple Intelligence has introduced a new focus mode called Reduce Interruptions.
Apple Intelligence has appeared this week in the latest developer betas of operating systems. While you can’t use these new features on the iPhone or iPad, you can use them on the Mac. I’ve been testing these features for a few days and I’ll explain How the new focus mode works.
Called Reduce interruptionsthis new focus mode improves on Do Not Disturb mode, because it is intelligent and knows at all times whether the notifications you receive are important or not. It blocks all notifications by defaultbut if it detects that a notification should pass the filter, he will inform you about it.
Introducing the New Focus Mode Reduce Interruptions
This new focus mode is an improved version of Do Not Disturb mode.because all notifications will be blocked by default; however, unlike the previous one, it will let important notifications through and these will be notified. For example, in my tests, messages such as “I need to talk to you” or “call me when you can, it’s important” pass the filter.
However, Like any other focus mode, it is possible to modify it and choose the people, applications and notifications that will be able to pass the filter.. What’s interesting about this focus mode is that it understands French, which means that if you’re using a Mac, you’ll be able to use it without any problems even though Apple Intelligence is only available in English. But that’s not all.
Although Apple Intelligence features are not available on the iPhone or iPad, this focus mode, once configured in the Mac settings with the macOS Sequoia 15.1 Developer Betasyncs with an iPhone and iPad that have the Latest iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 Betasas well as with the Apple Watch. However, at the moment it doesn’t work very well yet.
This mode has a lot of potential because it can improve with use. Having a mode that blocks everything, like sleep mode, but interprets important messages, is a big step towards a day without so many distractions with the iPhone.
