Cuban music to live the summer – Radio Rebelde

Havana– With Cuban music as the protagonist and with the intention of spiritual enjoyment of the dancers and participants, the province of Matanzas and the resort of Varadero will receive, from August 18 to 25, the Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son Festivalin its fourth edition.

Isaac Delgado, musician and president of the Festival, announced today at a press conference that the event will feature a variety of musical genres such as rumba, jazz, traditional music and popular dance, as it has included various exponents in its program since its first edition.

He announced that among the confirmed artists are Adalberto Álvarez and Su Son -led by Brian Álvarez-, Alain Pérez and the Orchestra, Brenda Navarrete, El Micha, Elito Revé and His Charangón, Espirales, Germán Velazco, Orlando Valle “Maraca”, Formell and the Van Van, Haila, Maykel Blanco and His Salsa Mayor, the Muñequitos de Matanzas, Raúl Paz, Ruly Herrera and Real Project, the Ignacio Piñeiro National Septet, Síntesis and Wampi.

Ruy López-Nussa and La Academia, Rumba All Star, the Anacaona orchestra, the Original de Manzanillo, Eliades Ochoa and Divan will join in, Delgado noted.

With the Festival, developed together with the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, we hope that people will see Varadero not only as a sun and beach destination, but also as a way to get in touch with our culture, said its president and founder.

During the event, residents of the provincial capital of Matanzas will be able to enjoy three nights of free performances at Playa El Tenis, on August 18, 19 and 20, he explained.

As a prelude to what will happen in Josone Park, Adriano DJ will bring his Havaneando party project to the facility, between the 19th and 21st of the same month, while from the 22nd that event venue will host six daily concerts that will start at 10:00 p.m.

Reinier Rodríguez, general director of the Company of Recordings and Musical Editions (Egrem), said that the Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son Festival is the result of the merger between several state institutions and private enterprises in defense of Cuban culture.

The organizers of the event must make it accessible to the community and enjoyed by the people, with the support of the Government and the Provincial Directorate of Culture of Matanzas, he stressed.

The director of Egrem announced that the event will also be an opportunity to present albums from the catalogue of that record label and to carry out children’s activities.

This is a celebration that promotes the image of Cuba and the integration of the institutional system of culture for the benefit of its consumers, said Rodriguez.

Fernando León, Vice Minister of Culture, said that the Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son is one of the most popular festivals and is among the most anticipated by the population because it not only takes place in one of the largest tourist centers in the country, but because it makes this destination available to nationals and foreigners with the best of the music of the largest of the Antilles.

We want this to be a great gift for Varadero and Matanzas this summer, he said.

Omar León, executive director of the event, said that ticket sales will begin next Tuesday, August 6, at various locations in Havana and Matanzas, such as the Casas de la Música in Miramar and Galiano, the Paradiso Agency, the Casa de la Música in Varadero, the Cárdenas movie theater, the Sauto Theater and the Artex branch in Atenas de Cuba, as well as online.

Since its creation in 2018, the Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son Festival combines the country’s cultural tradition and the beauty of one of the most important tourist destinations in the Caribbean.

In addition to various state institutions and territorial authorities, the projects Música Punto Cero, OLA, La Rueda Producciones and the company Four Wives are involved in its development.
