JK Rowling roared again – Claimed a woman competing in the Olympics to be a man – 2024-08-03 18:43:24

Harry Potter’s creator JK Rowling has again caused a stir with her statements.

On Thursday, Rowling shared a text on X calling out the Algerian boxer Imane Khelifiä to be a man. In reality, Khelif is a woman.

JK Rowling has become famous for her transphobic statements. However, Khelif is not a trans woman, she was already defined as a woman at birth.

However, Khelif has become the talk of the town at the Paris Olympics, as she was disqualified from the 2023 Women’s World Championships based on tests by the International Boxing Association (IBA).

Khelifi’s participation in the Olympics raised the debate, and the commotion started when Italy Angela Carinia gave up the match against Khelif after about a minute. He said that Khelif’s punches were the kind that he has not experienced before.

Rowling has commented hostilely on the matter in X, calling Khelif a man. Among other things, he shared a picture showing Khelif and Carinia after the match.

“A grinning man who knows he’s protected by a misogynistic sports establishment revels in the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head,” Rowling wrote.

In addition to Rowling’s comments, Elon Musk, among others, shared a publication in X, which read: “Men do not belong in women’s sports”.

– Exactly, Musk wrote.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has strongly defended its decision to allow Khelifi to compete in the Olympics. The committee issued a statement on the matter late Thursday. The release states that in Olympic boxing, the athlete’s gender is defined according to their passports, as has been done in the past.

According to the union, Khelif and another disputed opponent from Taiwan Lin Yu-Ting were victims of the IBA’s “surprising and arbitrary decision” last year.
