Alejandra Valencia is fighting for the individual medal in archery in Paris 2024 | TUDN Ambassadors

Alejandra Valencia, bronze medallist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, secured her place in the Round of 16 of the women’s individual archery event, in a day with mixed results for the Mexican representatives.

Valencia defeated Jennifer Muciño of the United States in the Round of 32, while in the Round of 32, she defeated Veronika Marchenko of Ukraine.

Her next opponent in the women’s individual archery round of 16 is China’s Li Jiaman, on August 3.

For his part, Mexican Matías Grande is also still alive in Paris with a similar performance. The current Pan American champion defeated Baatarkhuyag of Mongolia in his first match and then Jorge Enríquez of Colombia in the round of 16.

Grande, who is only 20 years old, will resume his participation on August 4 in the Round of 16 of the men’s individual archery competition.

Those who were unable to advance to the next round were Valencia’s teammates, Ana Paula Vázquez and Ángela Ruiz, as they were eliminated.

Ana Pau lost a very close match, which went to five sets, against the German Charline Schwarz, who beat the Mexican 6-4. This is how her participation in her second Olympic Games ended.

The same fate befell Angela Ruiz, who also won the bronze medal with her teammates. Ruiz fell to Bryony Pitman of Great Britain and said goodbye to Paris 2024.

For his part, Carlos Rojas said goodbye to the Olympic Games after being defeated in the round of 32 by the Turkish Berkim Tumer with a score of 6-4.
