For the second time in a week, FC Schaffhausen travelled to French-speaking Switzerland, and for the second time they returned as winners. After their performance in Lausanne, they also had the upper hand against Stade Nyonnais, got into their stride as time went on and celebrated a well-deserved 3-0 victory. This was helped by two scenes immediately before half-time.
In the 44th minute, Marc Giger scored the 1-0 for FCS, perfectly assisted by Willy Vogt. Two minutes later, Nyonnais’ Franck Koré was shown the red card for violent conduct. And so, after the game restarted, there was a lot going for FC Schaffhausen. It quickly became clear that they could benefit from this. After 56 minutes, Gabriele De Donno increased the lead to 2-0, again assisted by Vogt. He crowned his performance with the third goal in the closing stages and thus secured the final decision.
In between, Stade Nyonnais barely managed to put FC Schaffhausen under pressure. The burden of Koré’s sending off was too heavy. FCS didn’t let anything go wrong, achieved its second win of the season in Romandy and seems prepared for the challenges ahead: Vaduz is the next opponent on August 11th.
