Update: The SBB has partially repaired the overhead line fault on the route between Zurich HB and Winterthur. However, restrictions on the route are expected to continue until 7 p.m.

Rail traffic between Zurich main station and Winterthur has been interrupted due to a damaged overhead line. This affects not only various S-Bahn connections but also long-distance traffic. According to SBB, the disruption will last until at least 2 p.m.

The disruption also affects long-distance trains between Zurich HB and St. Gallen, according to the SBB website. In the meantime, a replacement train service has been set up on the affected section of the route between Effretikon ZH and Winterthur.

The SBB recommends avoiding the area as much as possible. An alternative route via Bülach that was initially recommended is also no longer possible. The route can also no longer be used due to damage to the overhead line.

According to SBB, an S-Bahn damaged an overhead line. A following freight train then tore it down.
