“Silver” Apostolos Christou in Paris – Second medal for Greece – 2024-08-02 17:06:35

Apostolos Christou won the medal he dreamed of all his life in the 200m backstroke in the Paris Olympic Games pool.

The Greek swimmer finished 2nd and even touched the gold medal, before celebrating with his soul the silver.

Christou entered the race strongly and was ahead in the first 50 meters and 100 meters, while in the 150 meters he had a difference of 1.06 seconds from his pursuers.

In the end he ran out of energy and was overtaken by Hungarian Kos, but held on to leave the rest behind.

The wonderful Christou finished in 1:54.82, against Huber Kos’ 1:54.26. Switzerland’s Mityukov was third in 1:54.85 and France’s Thomas fourth in 1:55.38, one centimeter ahead of American Jones.

The Greek swimmer had finished 4th in the 100m backstroke and in fact then stated, disappointed, that he was thinking of giving up and going down only to the relay.
