However, despite their efforts, the Cuban outfielder Randy Arozarenawho was a key target, ended up being traded to the Seattle Mariners instead of to Los Angeles.

Randy Arozarena’s situation
Negotiations between the Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays for Arozarena stalled, allowing Seattle to take the standout outfielder. The trade resulted in the Rays receiving Brody Hopkins, a young prospect, and minor league outfielder Aidan Smith, plus a sum of money. This offer was apparently more attractive to Tampa Bay compared to what the Dodgers offered.

The move surprised some, given that Los Angeles and Tampa Bay have good relations and the Dodgers had recently received Amed Rosario in a trade with the Rays. Rosario, who joins the Dodgers after the failed attempt to acquire Arozarena, brings versatility to the team, as he can play both the outfield and infield, a skill that differs from Arozarena’s specialization as an outfielder.

Interested in Garrett Crochet
In addition to Arozarena, the Dodgers also showed interest in Garrett Crochet, a pitcher for the Chicago White Sox. Crochet, known for his powerful arm and potential as a reliever, was not traded before the July 30 trade deadline for the current MLB season. The lack of an addition to the rotation may be a concern for Los Angeles, especially considering the injury issues that have plagued their team.
