Huawei launches MateBook GT 14, its fastest laptop with OLED display

Huawei has just unveiled a new laptop, the MateBook GT 14. The latter is positioned as a much more powerful machine than the brand’s other computers.

Huawei launches the MateBook GT 14, a 14-inch laptop geared toward power, unlike most of the Chinese manufacturer’s other PCs. At the heart of the MateBook GT 14 is the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor. This Meteor Lake chip boasts an impressive 16 cores and 22 threads, configured with 6 P-Cores, 8 E-Cores, and 2 LP-E Cores. With a base frequency of 2.3 GHz and the ability to boost up to 5.1 GHz, this processor is designed to handle the most demanding tasks with ease.

What sets the MateBook GT 14 apart is Huawei’s decision to push the limits of power delivery. While the standard Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor is typically rated at 55W, and some mini PCs reach 80W, Huawei has doubled down. The MateBook GT 14 supports the full 115W rated powerunleashing the true potential of this Meteor Lake chip. This unprecedented power is made possible by Huawei’s Super Turbo 3.0 technology, which ensures peak performance when you need it most.

Cutting-edge visuals and generous storage space

The laptop offers configurations with up to 32GB RAM and a spacious 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSDwhich is ultimately quite unusual for a computer of only 14 inches.

Sleek design and connectivity

Despite its internal power, the MateBook GT 14 maintains a sleek appearance, just like the classic Matebook 14. The laptop features an ultra-thin, wedge-shaped metal body with a clean, precise waistline. Available in Moonlight Silver and Space Gray, it features a luminous Huawei logo on the back that lights up when the laptop is opened. The device also features a curved mirror that creates a star trail effect when the laptop is opened or closed.

The connectivity side is pretty comprehensive, including USB-C, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and an SD card slot. The laptop also supports an external eGPU dock with a TDP rated at 75W, though details on specific GPU configurations have yet to be revealed. We are not entitled to a dedicated graphics card here.Shame.

To manage the heat generated by its high-performance components, Huawei has implemented a sophisticated cooling system. The MateBook GT 14 features a new rear exhaust structure, second-generation shark fin fans, and a ten-thousand-hole dot matrix air intake. The star of the show, however, is the metallized graphene cooling technology, which promises efficient heat dissipation even under heavy loads.

Huawei has equipped the MateBook GT 14 witha suite of AI features designed to improve productivity and user experience. The AI space includes features like AI Minutes, which lets you record and summarize meetings, and AI Subtitles for real-time translation during international calls. There’s also AI Eyes, which optimizes your appearance during video conferences.

Finally, to stay productive on the go, the MateBook GT 14 is equipped with a 70 Wh lithium-polymer battery. The PC is especially supplied with a 140W gallium nitride charger, which enables ultra-fast charging. Huawei claims that 10 minutes of charging is enough to provide up to 3 hours of work.

Price and availability

The Huawei MateBook GT 14 is available for pre-order on Huawei’s official website. Prices start at 7,499 yuan (around 963 euros) for the base model with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The top-of-the-line model equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage is priced at 10,999 yuan (around 1,412 euros).
