Mexico City. Virtual president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum congratulated Mexican judoka Prisca Awiti, who won a silver medal this morning at the Paris 2024 games.
“Congratulations, I think it’s the first in Judo history,” said the Morena member on Tuesday. She considered that with this result “most likely what will happen with this medal, which puts the name of our country on high, is that probably many girls will become interested in this sport. Congratulations, good luck also to all the athletes who are competing,” she said today.
She also announced that she is about to present her plan for high-performance sports with Conade, as well as for community sports. She explained that for the latter she will resume part of the “Ponte Pila” program that she promoted during her administration as Head of Government of Mexico City.
He clarified that although the Ponte Pila program was carried out in the Pilares centers, “not necessarily” these types of spaces will be resumed, since that decision would correspond to the states and municipalities, but sports incubators will be promoted in the country.
