– Philippe Katerine revealed how much he received for his performance during which he sang his single “Nu”.
Philippe Katerinenaked, painted blue, in the middle of a fruit platter. This was certainly one of the tableaux the most significant moments of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games. Questioned by Libérationon July 27, 2024, the singer revealed how much he received for his performance during which he sang his single “Nu”. “I inquired […] because I didn’t really know, and so I’m paid 200 euros”he assured. A sum “huge” in his eyes, but which he takes with pleasure. “I’ll put them in my pocket”said Philippe Katerine. Before concluding: “I would have paid 200 euros to be able to do it.”
The singer’s response is intriguing when we know that the artists seen during the ceremony were not supposed to be paid, as explained to Release The Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games on July 25: “The star singers who will perform at the opening ceremony will not receive any fees for their performances”regardless of their fame. However, in another interview, this time given to KonbiniPhilippe Katerine repeated that he had been paid 200 euros for his remarkable performance. “And at the same time I don’t care. The idea was not to make money.”he explained. He especially wanted “do something very exciting” et “to transmit a message of peace”.

Philippe Katerine apologizes
The message of peace was clearly not received by part of the audience. His passage was interpreted as a caricature of the Last Suppernamely the last meal of Jesus in the Bible. Catholics have spoken out on social media to express their sadness and their anger. Faced with the growing controversy, the singer wanted to present his excuses to those who felt offended, even though the painting was supposed to represent the feast of the gods. “I was raised in the Christian religion. And the beautiful thing about the Christian religion is forgiveness. So I ask forgiveness if I have offended.”he explained to the microphone of CNN France.
