New York Times: Iran’s Leader Khamenei Orders Immediate Attack on Israel – 2024-08-01 05:37:51

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei orders an immediate attack on Israel, the New York Times writes, in response to Haniya’s murder.

The situation in the Middle East is becoming increasingly dangerous as Israel and Iran move closer to war after the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya in Tehran.

Iran’s foreign ministry says Iran holds the US responsible for Haniya’s killing because of its support for Israel and that it has “the right to respond appropriately to this aggressive act against its sovereignty”.

The Iraqi armed faction Kataib Hezbollah announced that the killing of the head of Hamas in Tehran “violated all rules of engagement”, in a message on its Telegram account.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallad spoke with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and said that Israel does not intend to escalate the situation, but maintains a high level of alert and is ready to respond to any attack by Hezbollah.
