Thiago Almada was the key player in the 2-0 victory that put Mascherano’s men into the quarter-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On Friday at 4pm, they will face a tough test against France, the home team, in the midst of a hot climate.

Geronimo Rulli – 7
He was very confident throughout the match. The most difficult was a mid-distance shot in the first half that he cleared very well.
Nahuel Lujan – 6
He is a very solid defender, a centre-back who plays as a full-back and finds it difficult to attack. He fulfilled his defensive role, which was essential.
Mark of Caesar – 8
One of the best players on the team, he appeared on three occasions to cross and save very dangerous plays by Ukraine.
Nicolas Otamendi – 7
The captain also appeared as his teammate in defence and cut several chances. There was one that he anticipated and went on the attack, but Julián did not return it.
Julio Soler – 6
Constantly leaving the field. Today without as much participation as in previous matches.
Ezequiel Fernandez – 5
He did not have the same level as against Iraq, he played further back and that was perhaps the reason. He did not participate in the creation and was more concerned with recovery.
Christian Medina – 6
He was Equi’s spare wheel first and Hezze’s later, at times he teamed up with Almada… He always delivers.
Julian Simeon – 8
Tireless on the right, very sharp with his appearances, another great game from Cholo’s son. A good move by Mascherano to include him in the list.
Thiago Almada – 8 ★
A crucial goal to open a very tough match. They gave him space and he nailed it next to the post. The best of the National Team comes from his feet.
Thiago Almada’s goal, the star against Ukraine
Julian Alvarez – 6
He had one from outside that went close. Afterwards it was more willpower than good play, he is missing the goal. Hopefully it will come in time for what is coming in the quarterfinals.
Luciano Gondou – 5
He did not have a good match, some inaccuracies with the ball and no scoring opportunities.
Santiago Hezze – 6
He came in with the result in his favour to help in the recovery. Except for one where he wanted to leave and lost, he later fulfilled his promise.
Kevin Zenon – 6
He participated in the second goal with a shot that led to the Ukrainian goalkeeper clearing the ball and Echeverri scoring.
Bruno Amione – 5
He is not a full-back and sometimes finds it difficult to play there. Good at marking, some mistakes when moving out with the ball.
Claudio Echeverri – 7
Goal that gave the team peace of mind for the final 2-0. Good interventions since his entry, which will give him confidence for what is to come.
Little Devil Echeverri scored a goal
Lucas Beltran – 6
He came on near the end for Julián to have more strength in attack.
Javier Mascherano (DT) – 6
Good with the changes from the previous match. The starting lineup may not have been ideal, but it changed in time.
