The Office of the Mayor of Cali, through the Secretaries of Sports and Recreation, Culture and Education, is trying to enrich the educational process of children, adolescents and young people, integrating art, sports and culture into the school day.

First, the project will be implemented in 70 of the 77 Official Educational Institutions – IEO – that have one day in the city. For this purpose, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation will assign 48 sports instructors and the Ministry of Culture will assign 70 tutors to provide educational support in the various institutions.

“This coalition is an alliance of three groups of the District Administration to strengthen school time, guaranteeing better living conditions for our students, from the Official Education Institutions – IEO – that work with one day, with these educational institutions as an example of appropriate practice. free time for these children and young people,” said Tatiana Aguilar, Secretary of Education.

Likewise, the head of the education package said “This strategy allows us to remove violence, take it off the streets and reduce the conditions that are not favorable for the development of integration and on the other hand make it fall in love every time. “more of the school as their second home.”

With this initiative, which is a pilot that is being implemented, the District Administration wants to give new meaning to school time, to give students the opportunity to develop their artistic, sports and cultural skills, to complement their academic training, to encourage inter-institutional work by articulating the efforts of various secretaries to offer a comprehensive educational proposal.

At the same time, the head of the General Education Institute José María Cabal, César Augusto Ocoró, praised this proposal and assured that he would like it to last over time. “This is what they are looking for to improve learning and the development of bets, both in culture, sports and education in the school and on the land.”

At the same time, the aim is to expand students’ opportunities by allowing young people to build more complete and richer life projects.

The Undersecretary of Sports Promotion, Andrés Felipe Camelo, explained what contribution the Secretariat of Sports and Recreation will make to the project. “We are going to have a complete school and university sports program, with our 48 monitors we are going to influence more than 90 places in 48 Official Educational Institutions with professionals in physical education and sports training to the to provide all the necessary tools to all the students. of our city.”

At the Ministry of Culture, as a cultural friend, they hope to be able to map the city’s IEOs to learn about the artistic and cultural vocations of students through training processes for participation in places such as festivals, meetings at the local center . and national level. “This alliance through art and cultural training programs will allow us to identify other new ways of learning and new methods of work that are applied in the field of culture to strengthen the art and culture offer that we have in our place ,” said the artistic and cultural director. cultural training, Yurani Garces.

It should be noted that the 14 rural IEOs will have tutors in both culture and sport during the development of this pilot project which will be carried out during the rest of the school year, with the expectation of expansion and consolidation in the future, promoting social. and creative skills.

On the other hand, the cultural managers and educators who will be responsible for guiding the students in these cultural and sports areas, see this fellowship as an opportunity to explore areas other and learn about other forms and styles of art that can contribute to the learning from the very teaching they are going to teach.
