After decades without a cinema, Angermünde is reviving the old tradition with unusual formats. What there is to experience for children and adults in summer 2024.

Angermünde has a cinema tradition that goes back over a hundred years. Famous film celebrities like Marlene Dietrich have their roots in the city. But after the fall of the Wall, that was over. The old cinema was demolished. For almost 30 years, film fans had to travel to Eberswalde, Schwedt or Berlin. Now the “Kintopp” is finally back and even at the historic location.

The renovated Haus Uckermark, which once housed the cinema and has been home to the museum and tourist information since 2020, is once again offering monthly film screenings with selected German and international films for children and adults. And all for an admission price of just 5 euros for adults, 3 euros for concessions. Sometimes in an intimate club atmosphere, sometimes open air with a romantic old town backdrop or very nostalgically with mobile historical film technology.

Cinema in Angermünde shows silent film classics

It will roll out on Friday, 2. August 2024 is back in Angermünde. The “Victim of the Night” transforms the Bürgergarten at Haus Uckermark into a nostalgic silent film cinema under the starry sky with live music and gastronomy.

The travelling cinema, which has been travelling throughout Europe since 1999 and has been a guest in Angermünde for many years, brings Silent film classics back to the screen and creates a unique atmosphere with live music and historical film technology.

There will be a reunion with the legendary silent film stars Charlie Chaplin, Stan Laurel & Oliver Hard as well as Buster Keaton and Roscoe Arbuckle.

Admission and catering begin at 8.30 p.m. The film screenings start at dusk around 9.30 p.m.Tickets are available at the Angermünde Tourist Information Office in Haus Uckermark, Hoher Steinweg 17/18 (10 euros, reduced 5 euros).

Nostalgia: The old cinema box office from the GDR era is still preserved in the Angermünde Museum. The cinema hall was demolished long ago.

Family cinema in Angermünde with “Laura’s Star”

For the little cinema-goers there is 3. August 2024 a special cinema experience. The city of Angermünde invites you to Family cinema this time in the youth culture center “Alte Brauerei” in Heinrichstraße.

Here we are 3 p.m the popular children’s film “Laura’s Star” As a special highlight, child actress Emilia Kowalski, who plays the main role in “Laura’s Star”, will be present. After the film, the children will have the opportunity to ask Emilia questions about her acting career and the filming. Of course, there will also be the opportunity to get an autograph from her. Entry is free.

GDR classic “Hot Summer” returns to cinemas

It will be Ostalgic on 23. August 2024 again in the Bürgergarten in Haus Uckermark, because the DEFA cult film of the GDR “Hot summer” turns 50. To mark this anniversary, there will be a musical and literary event in Angermünde with the film composer Thomas Natschinski, son of the composer of the legendary film music for the box office hit “Heißer Sommer”, and presenter and actress Christine Dähn will entertain the evening with unforgettable songs from the film as well as humorous and touching stories about the filming, the main actors Christ Dörk and Frank Schöbel and the film music.

Christine Dähn, who also wrote the biography “Verdammt, wer hat das Klavier erfindungsgemäßen” (Damn, who invented the piano) about Thomas Natschinski, will reminisce with him and take the audience on a musical journey through time. Start is at 7pm, admission from 6pmThis unique concert reading was initiated by the Potsdam Film Museum and is now celebrating its premiere in Angermünde.
