He clarified that he spoke with the Minister of Health, Dr. Galya Kondeva, who informed him that a competition for the director of the Blood Center in Burgas will be announced in a few days.
“I, for my part, stated that we will donate to the Ministry the technical project prepared by the Municipality of Burgas in order to speed up the process of its construction!
There is no point in convincing you how important news this is for the whole of Southeast Bulgaria, even more so in the context of the children’s hospital we are already building!
Funds for this year have been set aside in the state budget and I hope this will speed up the process even more!

The new RCTH will be established as a medical facility under Art. 5, para. 1 of the Law on Medical Institutions – a legal entity of budgetary support with a subject of activity: collection of blood and blood components; diagnosis, processing, storage, provision of blood and blood components; production, storage and provision of blood bioproducts; implementation of transfusion supervision activities.
As a result of the adoption of the decree, a complete technological cycle of collection, diagnosis, processing, storage, quality control and shipment of blood and blood components in the territory of Burgas region will be ensured.
With the opening of the Regional Center for Transfusion Hematology, a permanent and sustainable solution to the issue of providing a sufficient amount of blood and blood components needed by medical facilities for hospital care in the territory of the city of Burgas and the municipalities in the region will be ensured.
This will improve the treatment process for patients with life-threatening conditions and ensure the quality of medical work and patient safety.
