Kamenz. What positions do the candidates who are running in the Bautzen 2 constituency – the region around Kamenz – in the state election on September 1 represent? This question was to be answered at an election forum organized by the Saxon State Center for Political Education on Tuesday in Kamenz. There was great interest, with around a hundred guests gathered at the Flair Hotel to perhaps get some help in making their decision about their crosses on the ballot paper.
- Elaine Jentsch (CDU),
- Ralf-Peter Hechtberger (AfD),
- Ines Enns (The Left),
- Matthias Höhle (Alliance 90/The Greens),
- Jurij Petr Bulang (SPD) and
- Matthias Schniebel (FDP)
Three topics were the focus of the debate:
- Democracy and citizen participation,
- Security and asylum policy,
- Education.
One thing can be said in advance: on many issues, the candidates at least represented similar positions; no heated debates or even arguments arose during the forum.
