Arnold Schwarzenegger, seven-time champion Mr. Olympia, actor and former governor of California from 2003 to 2011, celebrated his seventy-seventh birthday! Once again, he has had a year full of events. In March, another edition of the North American Arnold Sports Festival was held with his personal participation, a festival he founded in 1989 together with Jim Lorimer. Two weeks later, the renewed British professional show Arnold Classic UK took place.
Arnold realizes what bodybuilding has brought him, and he likes to give it back. He cares that today’s athletes can earn decent money. Both of his contests, held under the IFBB Jim Manion Professional League banner, were the third and fourth highest-grossing events in professional bodybuilding this season. Bodybuilders will earn more only at Joe Weider’s Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend and at the Super Series Goldentimes Bodybuilding GP, which will take place in December under the banner of the PCA organization.
Although the prize money at Arnold’s competitions is high, Schwarzenegger plans to increase it further, putting pressure on other organizers, including those behind Olympia Weekend. Therefore, at this year’s North American Arnold Classic, he announced that next year the winner of the men’s open bodybuilding competition will receive half a million US dollars, which is not only 200,000 more than this year, but also 100,000 more than what is awarded to the champion Mr. Olympia!
After the Arnold Classic UK held in Birmingham, Arnold also had to focus on his health due to a congenital heart defect. After several surgeries in which doctors replaced his worn heart valves, he developed an irregular heart rhythm that left him very exhausted. Therefore, on the recommendation of doctors, he had a pacemaker implanted in order to have enough time to recover before further work duties.
Filming of the second series of the action series FUBAR was scheduled to begin at the end of April, the first series of which achieved excellent viewership despite average critics. Filming is expected to continue until the end of August, with post-production taking months to come, so new episodes won’t air until the second or third quarter of 2025 at the earliest. Olympia, nor the movie Conan or Terminator, still has many fans.
He is in contact with them on social networks and through his e-mail newsletter Arnold’s Pump Club, where he motivates his subscribers to do sports. On his birthday yesterday, we wish him to remain as active in the years to come, to have good health and plenty of energy. Happy Birthday Arnold!
