The National Assembly has finally approved the update of the state budget, with which the municipalities will receive additional sums for their projects.
The mayors of the big cities with regional divisions can delegate the assignment and implementation of projects to the regional mayors.
The dispute caused the request of the MPs from “Vazrazhdane”, BSP and those excluded from the DPS to be considered and immediate payment of a second tranche to farmers affected by Ukrainian imports.
The proposal was rejected, with Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova assuring that there was no risk of the money not reaching the farmers.
She rejected accusations that payments to farmers are being delayed in order to keep the country’s deficit within 3 percent, which is one of the conditions for the introduction of the euro.
“The preservation of the budget balance is not only the Eurozone. The preservation of the budget balance is written in the Law on Public Finances – that the financial stability of the country must be respected and in the event of a violation of the budget balance, an excessive deficit procedure is initiated against the Republic of Bulgaria,” said the acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
