End of an era for Metrosport. After 24 years of presence on the… stand pegs, its publication is officially discontinued. One month after the relevant property update, today Wednesday July 31st the last page of the newspaper based in Thessaloniki was printed. “Goodbye and… we continue”, is the central title on the front page of the sports newspaper, where there are still the editor’s note on the continuation in electronic form and opinions of its columnists.

THE «Metrosport» in northern Greece became the eleventh sports newspaper to suspend its publication in the last 14 years!
It is typical that in July 2010 they were released nationwide 12 sports newspapers: “Fos ton Spor”, “Philathlos”, “SportDay”, “GOAL”, “Distance”, “Champion”, “Derby”, “Green”, “Time of Sports”, “Score Live”, “Anchovy” and ” Cat”.
The following year (July 2011) 11 remained as ‘Score Live’ closed. And since then, in July 2021, there are only five sports cards on the newsstands: “Fos”, “SportDay”, “Live Sport”, “Champion”, “Sports Hour”. It should be noted here that in the meantime “Sportime” was closed for the second time, which abandoned the printed edition, continued in electronic form, but now only exists as a cover on the internet…
In Thessaloniki, except for “Metrosport”, the historical ones were closed from 2010 until today “Sports of the North” (in 2015) after 50 years of progress, while in 2021 the «Arena Press». And even the weekly «Forza» (friend close to PAOK) is now only available in electronic format…
