Blood shock at the women’s team final in artistic gymnastics! Even before superstar Simon Biles (27) won her first Olympic gold in Paris, Brazilian Flavia Saraiva (24) suffered a gaping cut on her left eye.
What happened? While warming up, the gymnast slipped on the upper bars of the uneven bars after only two seconds, fell headfirst onto the mat and remained lying there, visibly shaken.

After her coach rushed to her, she first rolled to the side and then remained sitting for a few seconds. The reigning vice world champion in the team then got up while a supervisor stopped the bleeding with towels.
Strong: Just a few minutes later she was the second Brazilian to stand on the uneven bars. With a plaster over her eye, she then performed an almost flawless routine, almost unfazed. The foundation for the bronze medal for her team!
Biles and her American team won gold in front of around 15,000 fans. At the end of the team competition, the US gymnast was alone on the podium and her floor exercise rounded off a brilliant performance by the US team.
Three years after her partial withdrawal from the Tokyo Olympics due to mental problems, 27-year-old Biles celebrated a triumphant return to the Olympic gymnastics stage with her fifth gold.
