The founding father of the Phāea resort firm, Yiannis B. Smokos, died yesterday afternoon, July 2024, on the age of 75.
From his first steps he was lively in tourism, firmly oriented in direction of the standard of companies and the continual upgrading of infrastructure. He envisioned, as said in an announcement by the Phaea firm, a tourism centered on respect for the setting, society and folks, creating probably the most essential resort firms in Crete.
He was a founding member of SETE, a member of the Panhellenic Federation of Hoteliers, actively participated in essential initiatives, akin to Minoan Traces, Hellenic Seaways, Forthnet, AirGreece that contributed to the general improve of tourism in our nation, and on the similar time served the native authorities with consistency and imaginative and prescient as Deputy Mayor of Heraklion, President of DEVAH and Municipal Councillor.
Married to Eleni Kaparounaki, his beloved life associate since highschool, he had two daughters, Agapi and Kostanza Sbokou, and 4 grandchildren.
The funeral service can be held on Thursday, July 4 at 12:00 midday at I.N. Agios Minas, in Heraklion.
