Presidential candidate Daniel Ceballos promised this Sunday to get rid of 167 police checkpoints on Venezuela’s roads, if he wins the July 28 elections, as he believes that these locations function extortion facilities towards residents.
In his opinion, the top of state, Nicolás Maduro, maintains all these checkpoints – operated by police forces and the Bolivarian Nationwide Guard (GNB, Militarized Police) – out of “worry” of those that don’t sympathize with him. The president will search a second re-election in July.
