Basketball: NBA champion Invoice Walton dies at 71

(Reuters) – Invoice Walton, two-time NBA champion and enshrined within the North American basketball championship’s “Corridor of Fame”, died on Monday on the age of 71, the Nationwide Basketball Affiliation introduced.

Invoice Walton, champion with the Portland Path Blazers in 1977 then with the Boston Celtics in 1986, died surrounded by his family members after battling most cancers, the NBA mentioned.

“Invoice Walton was certainly one of a form,” responded NBA “boss” Adam Silver in a press launch. “However what I’ll bear in mind about him is his love of life.”

A pivot with fluid actions regardless of his dimension (2m11), Invoice Walton was voted finest participant of the 1977-1978 season.

After his enjoying profession, disrupted by accidents, he distinguished himself as a commentator, preaching on air for his so-called “liberal” opinions.
