MIDIS begins attention to the school food service at the national level

The head of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS), Julio Demartini, visited the educational institutions Liceo Trujillo, Divino Jesús and José Olaya of the Libertarian capital, where he participated in the Good Start of the 2024 School year and supervised warehouses and kitchens of the schools in which food service is offered through the Qali Warma Program.

In the company of the regional governor of La Libertad, César Acuña, and the director of the Divino Jesús educational institution of the La Esperanza district, Francisco Castro, the minister led the supervision actions of the school warehouse, which has 725 primary school users.

“From MIDIS, and as minister in charge of the La Libertad region, we are working on an agenda with the regional governor and his authorities that addresses infrastructure issues such as roads, bridges and hospitals, but also investment in education to train men and women. of good. We renew that commitment today, at the Good Start of the 2024 School Year,” highlighted the head of MIDIS.

Qali Warma has, at the national level, 2 modalities of service: products and rations (the latter returns after 4 years, after the pandemic) and consists of the delivery of a drink, a solid and a boiled egg, a perfect combination of foods that are already ready to be consumed by schoolchildren in their classrooms. Under this modality, 1,167,788 students from 4,590 public educational institutions will be served.

Regarding the product modality, 3 million schoolchildren from 60,952 public educational institutions will be served and these are foods that are prepared in the same educational institutions for the consumption of schoolchildren in their classrooms before their classes start.

It should be noted that the program permanently supervises that the food meets the health requirements of the competent authorities, while the warehouses undergo an exhaustive inspection to verify that the requirements are respected.

On the other hand, Minister Demartini visited the Banco de la Nación agency in Trujillo, where he supervised the carding process of users of the Pensión 65 program. It is important to highlight that in the La Libertad region the list of users of the Pensión 65 program is has increased, for the first collection, with 12,635 new users, reaching a total of 39,992 older adults at the regional level.

“In the State we have the responsibility to work for the well-being of older adults, early childhood and the most vulnerable,” emphasized Minister Demartini.

The massive delivery of debit cards carried out by the Pensión 65 program allows users to have new payment channels close to their homes and collect payments at Banco de la Nación agents, municipal agents or at a financial institution. To date, in La Libertad, 10,853 users already have Banco de la Nación cards.
