Ferencváros, which is facing the final of the Hungarian Cup, started with a changed composition, several young players and players who previously had fewer roles were added to the team, which could not put DVTK under much pressure. The home team – who also had changes in several places compared to the previous week – were not supported this time by the ultras, who stayed away due to the 7-0 defeat suffered at the home of Újpest last Saturday.
Half an hour passed with Ferencváros having the upper hand in possession, mostly in the field, without any serious chances, but both teams had chances to score goals in the first half, but neither side was able to take advantage of their chances.
The game was exciting in the second half, both teams were able to squeeze their opponents in front of their goal in some periods. A quarter of an hour before the end, Diósgyőr took the lead with a strange goal: Zachariassen tried to break free, kicked the ball to his own teammate, Alex Tóth, and from him it went to Gera, who headed it into the goal from close range. FTC tried to equalize by dictating a high tempo, but DVTK did not give up their attacks either, and in the end Levente Szabó increased their advantage with a header and collected the three points after last week’s heavy defeat.
The Budapest team lost for the first time in the league this year.
