The double world champion, Kimberly García León, won the silver medal in the 35 kilometer race walking category held this Thursday the 24th, on the sixth date of the World Athletics Championships, which is held in the city of Budapest, in Hungary.

“It’s a silver medal and it’s in a World Cup, so I’m happy, but those were not the expectations I had. All that remains is to continue preparing for the Olympic Games. I know that the Olympic Games are going to be revenge, so in Paris I want that revenge,” Kimberly declared.

The Peruvian athlete won the silver medal and was runner-up in the 35km race walk at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, with a time of 2:40:52. She was surpassed by the Spanish athlete María Pérez who took first place with a time of 2h38:40.

As we remember, last year Kimberly was crowned double queen of the walk at the World Championships in Eugene in the 20 and 35 kilometer walk, on this occasion she climbed to the second place on the podium. García León, last Sunday, placed fourth in the 20 kilometer test, totaling 1h.27:32 for the 20 kilometer race walk test.

On the other hand, Peruvian Evelyn Inga placed sixth in the test, marking an important achievement for the country.
