Mother’s Day Celebrations Worldwide: Do Moms Prefer Gifts or Money?

Currently, almost every country in the world celebrates a different variation of Mother’s Day, thus honoring the essential role that mothers have in different types of families.

– Do you prefer to be given gifts, roses, chocolates or money?

“I don’t like flowers because I’m not dead, I’ve never liked them, I don’t like chocolate, too sweet, I don’t like sugar, I like money…, I like money. â€

And my mom loves money too.

– And I asked your daughter, do you like gifts, stuffed animals, chocolate or money?

Others believe that there is no need for a special event to celebrate them.

“I don’t really celebrate it because I’m a Christian but actually Mother’s Day is every day, Mother’s Day is when a child loves you, Mother’s Day is when Your mother gives you advice and you take it, which is mother’s day every day for me.â€

Janeth Polanco, who does not celebrate Mother’s Day:

“Because the 365 should be dedicated to the mother, because it is a big effort for a child. That is not easy. From the time they are in the womb until they are men, I have two husbands and I am still tired of them.

What is certain is that small businesses will not go unnoticed on this date because it is a crucial time to sell them.

“This is getting crowded and I have many Dominican, Ecuadorian, Colombian clients, but these mothers, these fathers bring their mothers to eat and God bless us on that day to amazing,” says July Sánchez, owner of Genesis Ecuadorian restaurant.

Gift spending by this time is expected to be lower than last year, expected to top $33 billion, compared to $35 billion in 2023, according to the National Retail Federation.

“March or February has gone down a lot, what we were used to doing was a little bit higher, I don’t know about the people, how they don’t have it, I don’t know on the economy basically, it has not helped us much.â€, explained Esteban Alonso- Owner of Paradise Florist.

And while it seems that Mother’s Day has become commercialized, many of us moms prefer quality time and splurging on expensive gifts.
